Utilizing Negative Prompting as a Digital Gaffer

The Art of the Flag

On a real film set, the "Gaffer" uses black flags to explicitly block light from hitting areas they want completely dark. Negative prompting is your digital flag. If you do not use it, the AI will indiscriminately blast light everywhere.

• Killing Ambient Bounce: Use negative prompts to destroy the ugly "global illumination" that washes out dramatic scenes, forcing true, deep blacks.
• Removing Undesired Sources: Does your shot keep rendering a window? Simply prompt "--no window, --no sunlight" to turn the room into a dark vault.
• Suppressing the "Digital Glow": Actively prompt against "bloom, HDR, glowing, halo" to ensure a raw, cinematic filmic response rather than a glowing video game render.

How It Works

1. Write the Positive: Prompt: "Detective in a dark alley, lit by a single streetlamp".
2. Load the Negative: NegPrompt: "(ambient light, bounce light, moonlight, glowing shadows, bright background, HDR)".
3. Execute the Contrast: The resulting image will possess a crushing, beautiful darkness that the standard model would refuse to generate.
