Why not just use f/22 deep focus?

The split diopter is profoundly unnatural. The human eye cannot focus on two distinct planes simultaneously. By deliberately generating this optical illusion, directors create immediate psychological discomfort and focus the audience on two important narrative beats at once.

Key Features

Bi-Focal Generation: Force the engine to utilize two entirely different focal planes in the same composition, creating high tension.
Deep Paranoia Framing: Place a gigantic eye or face in extreme foreground left, while they watch an incredibly tiny, sharp event happen in deep background right.

Set the Foreground: A character's profile, extreme close up.
Set the Background: An event happening far away.
